One Silent, dusty Summer evening;

Lewis cycles home for tea, to find himself chased once more, by the local school gang.

venturing across the winding country lanes, Lewis finally escapes their hate and oppression venturing through the wild tracks of a local wood.

Through a clearing in the woods Lewis stumbles upon a young airman, standing alone in a golden field watching the Swallows as they dart across the evening sun.

Otto turns and Seeing Lewis' distress, he introduces himself in hope to help.
It seems Otto, has a quiet, and kind nature for someone of his age and explains to Lewis he is temporarily based near Tangmere, awaiting a staff car from the local airfield to pick him up.

Calming Lewis after his ordeal by showing him the marvel of how the swallows fly in the evening sun,
a brotherly bond between the two boys is struck.
